As the city grow and the demand rises, the location of tin mining was expanded. Ampang was opened as a new tin mining area for Klang Valley and derived from Malay word "Empangan" which means dam or mining area.
Due to its connection, Ampang road became a strategic point and the main source of income for the Kuala Lumpur people. Ampang Road's proximity to Klang River made this location hot in the market and able to run a strategic business. Current status of the is an abandoned site owned by Hyatt Group. The land size is 1.8acre and it's a zone as a commercial area. Hyatt today announced Hyatt Thrive, the company's global corporation designed to help community places where Hyatt associates are proud to work, where guests want to visit, where neighbors want to live and where hotel owners want to invest.
This proposal is to design a one stop wellness center that merges the Hyatt Thrive community project as a physical community space that is sensitive to Jalan Ampang historical value and urban style. The objectives of this proposal is to deliver healthcare, wellness and community events at one place where it benefiting the Hyatt Thrive community. Also to provide a social space for Hyatt Thrive to held their events, a place to gather and to fill the gap between community area and public space. The target user is refer to Grand Hyatt Staff which is 60% who are currently working and actively living their life with sports and well being activities. Another group would be young people who are working in the Kuala Lumpur area who are knowledgeable, energetic and have the attitude to change their lifestyle. The concept brings out the dynamic between human, its well being and urban elements towards creating a functional one stop center of healthcare.
