The UST Asian Studies Society, also known as UST ASSOC, is the sole representative society of the Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies Program of the Faculty of Arts and Letters. With a mission and vision oriented toward the promotion of Asian Consciousness in an interdisciplinary arena, the Asian Studies Society actively empowers its students to be part of its ever-growing, diverse, and inclusive culture, anchored in the improvement of Asian education and awareness both nationally and internationally.
Home to the 250 UST Asian Studies Dragons and Thomasian Diplomacy, the student is given the opportunity to jumpstart and expand their skills and interests in their hobbies by joining Ars Oratoria, AScoustics, AS Debate Chamber, AS Dragons, AS Gazette, AS Vision, and Furasia. For students interested in Diplomacy and International Relations, Asian Studies students are given the sole opportunity to apply as staff or to join as delegates to the UST Model United Nations and UST Model ASEAN Meeting, two flagship annual projects of the Asian Studies Society.
The "ASSOC Culture" is also manifested through the celebration of the diversity Asia has to offer. One of the Society’s most awaited events is the annual "One With ASEAN," wherein all its students are enjoined to thoroughly research each member state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and promote its culture and practices. Through such endeavors, the Asian Studies Society actively participates in the formation of its students by equipping them with skills, knowledge, and principles to be agents of change within Asia and the world.
