Master in Health Professions Education (Professional Track)
The Master in Health Professions Education (MHPEd) program is especially designed to improve the theoretical and practical competencies of health professions educators in the performance of their varied roles as facilitators of learning, curriculum and instructional designers, student evaluators, administrators and educational leaders, and researchers. This program is distinct from the emphasis of MAHPEd (academic track). MHPEd graduates are expected to complete a capstone project at the end of the program.
MHPEd Program Outcomes
Communicate effectively in written and oral forms about matters pertaining to health professions education
Demonstrate professionalism, cultural competence and ability to collaborate with other health professionals
Exhibit nationalism and internationalism in the practice of the teaching profession
Develop context-based macro and micro-plans for health professions education
Demonstrate advance teaching skills based on best evidence
Demonstrate effective educational leadership abilities and administrative skills
Evaluate educational programs and studies
Utilize relevant evidence in planning, conducting, and evaluating HPEd programs
Graduation Requirements
Core courses: 17 units
Electives: 13 units
Final requirement: Submission of the Capstone Project, a portfolio representing one or more of the following areas: Instructional and Curriculum Design, Teaching and Learning, Evaluation, Organization and Management, and Educational Research.
TOTAL UNITS: 30 units
