Master of Arts in Health Professions Education (Academic Track)

The Master of Arts in Health Professions Education (MAHPEd) program is an academic track, which prepares graduates for application, generation, a production of new knowledge for the advancement of HPEd as an academic discipline. It may be taken as a terminal degree or as preparation for a doctoral degree program. MAHPEd graduates are expected to complete a master’s thesis at the end of the program.

MAHPEd Program Outcomes

  1. Communicate effectively in written and oral forms about matters pertaining to health professions education

  2. Demonstrate professionalism, cultural competence and ability to collaborate with other health professionals

  3. Exhibit nationalism and internationalism in the practice of the teaching profession

  4. Develop context-based macro and micro-plans for health professions education

  5. Demonstrate advance teaching skills based on best evidence

  6. Evaluate educational programs and studies

  7. Demonstrate effective educational leadership abilities and administrative skills on a national level

  8. Conduct relevant research in the production of new, relevant, and updated knowledge in Health Professions Education

Graduation Requirements

Core courses: 17 units

Electives: 7 units

Master's thesis: 6 units (HP300.1 and HP 300.2)

TOTAL UNITS: 30 units
