...helping schools achieve their goals and mentoring youth
GreenStep Resource Organizations represent the wider network of support for greening schools. They are usually offering resources or support in some form whether informational resources, in-kind time, products or services that may be of use to schools, or financial support. Their online profile includes a description of what they offer schools, with a contact person and a link for more information. They also indicate the topic areas, and regions of Minnesota they serve to facilitate searching. Resource Organizations are also a great way for students to meet and learn from the community of organizations around them.

Process Steps
What are the Steps for an organization to become a MN GreenStep Schools Resource Organization member?
Organizations and companies interested in supporting green schools can participate in the program as a MN GreenStep School Resource Organization. An organization participates by creating a profile with a description of what they offer schools, with a contact person and a link for more information. Categories of offerings can include informational resources, in-kind time, products or services that may be of use to schools, or financial support. Offerings can be free, fee-based, or both. The organization chooses the region for which they offer support – whether to the whole state, to a single school or somewhere in between. The organization also chooses the types of topics they can assist schools with, including, where applicable, specific actions they can help support. For example, an environmental curriculum provider might indicate they can provide teacher training and classroom visits and the nature of their fees if applicable. Please note that the MN GreenStep Schools program is intended to help connect resources to needs but does not to vet the qualifications of the resource organizations. Green Schools Resource Organizations will be reviewed for general relevance and completeness of information before being listed, and there will be a means of reporting inappropriate listings if they should occur.
Once in the system, MN GreenStep Schools Resource Organizations become one of the resources available to teams working on best practice actions. For example if a team is working on a water savings campaign and wants to integrate water curriculum particular to their region, they might see a water education group listed as a resource based on a search for water topics and education resources for southeastern Minnesota.
