Imposter Syndrome in ENGR101

Coming into college, I had absolutely no intentions of ever taking a Computer Science class. So when I found out that all freshmen in the College of Engineering were required to take ENGR101, I freaked out a little.

On day 1, I could already tell that learning to code would be a challenge for me. Surveying the classroom, I could quickly tell that I was the only person paying attention. Everyone else seemed to have other tabs open, their focus elsewhere, as if they already knew everything the professor was about to teach us. I already felt behind in the class, how was that even possible?

When it came time for our first assignment, I could see people completing it and submitting it in class, as the professor was teaching. I, on the other hand, couldn't even figure out how to download MatLab.
