What's your Major/Minor? Why did you choose that major?
I'm a senior double-majoring in computer science & electrical and computer engineering. I'm passionate about digital technologies that make our life easier. I still vividly remember my surprise when I heard a woman's voice say, “What can I help you with?” from a then-brand-new iPhone 6. What fascinated me was not only Siri’s level of understanding of human language, but also the seamless coordination between Siri, the OS, and other applications such as the web browser. My experience with Siri motivates me to choose these two majors.
What courses are you mentoring for this semester?
I am mentoring EECS 280 this semester.
What internships have you had? What have you learned from them?
I've had ...zero internships! Instead, I have four research experiences. Two of those are about machine learning theory, specifically tackling training dataset imbalance issues and objective-alignment problems in self-supervised learning and reinforcement learning. One research is embedded system development, building a wearble wireless device that is capable of monitoring sweat for early disease detection. The fourth research I've done is building a distributed system for geo-distributed collaborative machine learning!
What are your graduation plans?
I'll be graduating in May 2024, and I'll join a PhD program in computer science.
Fun fact about yourself?
I love road and gravel biking, and I used to be a member of Michigan Cycling. I also enjoy watching movies!
