What's your Major/Minor? Why did you choose that major?
I'm a junior studying computer science and economics. I actually came to Michigan really wanting to study economics, until I took EECS 183 the winter semester of my freshman year. I only had a basic understanding of Python before then, which I had learned for an internship, but upon taking 183 I realized I am very interested in computer science. I like the algorithmic thinking and problem solving skills that are closely associated with computer science.
What courses are you mentoring for this semester?
I am mentoring EECS 183 and 280 this semester.
What internships have you had? What have you learned from them?
I've had two computer science internships in the past. One was in my freshman year summer, where I interned at a small tutoring firm in Turkey. They wanted to build a quiz-taking portal for their students, so I worked on a web application that has user authentication, quiz timing, and automatic grading. More recently, I worked at the UM Chemistry Department helping them migrate their awards database and automate important functions such as awards searching and reminder email sending.
What are your graduation plans?
I'll be graduating in May 2025, and currently I am recruiting for a junior summer internship. I am considering grad school (PhD) at some point, but for now job search it is!
Fun fact about yourself?
I recently got into collecting records! I like music a lot, and I love listening to records while I'm studying.
