What's your Major/Minor? Why did you choose that major?
I'm a junior in Computer Science through LSA and I don't have a minor! I chose CS because I love to challenge and surprise myself. This field can be intimidating; I personally struggled to find my footing when starting out, but ultimately found ways to make it feel like my own (such as mentoring!).
What courses are you mentoring for this semester?
I'll be mentoring for EECS 183 this semester! Check out the GCal to schedule a time to meet with me 1-1 to discuss projects/labs/exams/anything!Â
What internships have you had? What have you learned from them?
Last summer I interned for Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee where I worked as a SWE for a cybersecurity team. This summer I'll be working at Reddit in NYC. Interning is a great place to apply both your technical and soft skills while learning to work with a company-wide infrastructure.
I'd also like to add that there are other ways to spend your summers as a CS major. I know lots of people are involved in some pretty cool research and projects. Otherwise, summer classes are a great way to get ahead on credits. At the end of the day, internships are one of many valid options, and I'd recommend looking into what interests you most!
What are your graduation plans?
I'm set to graduate in Winter 2024 and will begin working full-time after that.
Fun fact about yourself?
My favorite movie is School of Rock!
