What's your Major/Minor? Why did you choose that major?
I'm a senior studying Computer Science at the University of Michigan, College of LSA. I chose to study CS after finding a passion for it early on and have enjoyed the journey so far and can't wait to see where it will take me.
What courses are you mentoring for this semester?
I am currently mentoring for EECS 280, stop by some time!
What internships have you had? What have you learned from them?
I interned with Microsoft and Quicken Loans through a pilot program started during the pandemic to help increase digital literacy with high school students from Detroit Public Schools and encapsulate their passion for Computer Science. This was a very fun and unique expereince for me and posed its own set of challenges that were new to everyone (Check out my students' finished website here). The biggest thing I learned from it was that it is okay to feel like you don't know everything because a good amount of the learning comes from the journey involved with improving. Over the summer I interned with Palo Alto Networks as a software engineer intern. They are a global leader in the cybersecurity sector and had me work on a service from scratch that was successfully deployed. I got to learn a lot from this experience, mainly how to work in the industry with a team and the software life cycle.
What are your graduation plans?
I will graduate in April 2023, and I plan to go straight into the industry as a software engineer. Eventually I will try and move towards being a project manager and working on things I am heavily interested in.
Fun fact about yourself?
I enjoy watching movies and I'm on the board of executives for M-Flicks (movie club at Umich).
