The employee orientation process is the foundation of the center’s professional development system. The orientation process sets the stage for the working relationships between new employees, the center staff, and the children and their families. A good orientation process covers the essential technical aspects of the job and center operations, but it focuses also on a larger goal - orienting the new employee to the center’s shared values, vision, and mission.

Upon completion of this module, you will display an understanding of the different components of new staff orientation, be able to explain the importance of an orientation timeline/checklist, and create action steps to review and/or create an orientation process for your program.
