This class has given me the opportunity to really learn how to draw the human figure, something that was lacking a lot in my own art practice. I felt that I was able to critically observe the figure and its basic structure and apply the many techniques taught in this course. Working on finding the line of action, and working with the general model to create a more realistic and accurate figure are definitely things I will take with me outside of this class. My goal for this class was to develop these skills and practice them regularly as well as familiarizing myself more with digital drawing.
These are some figures I drew on Week 3 of this course, I had not developed a good general model yet and my lines were still very sketchy.
Here is work from Week 9 where I applied all of the things worked on throughout the quarter including tone, light, and general model. I wanted to imitate a comic book or graphic novel style with a split page that juxtaposes a character with two different scenes.
This was a study in movement for a character I made previously, it was interesting working on a gif from scratch and having to create the movement using my own intuition.
In these collaborative drawings, I attempted to combine the creative styles of several artists in this class and make storyboards for an action story or a fantasy setting. It was interesting to try to ground the characters in a setting and play around with perspective and the set poses.
