STATEMENT

I came into this class as a senior art major that does mostly digital drawings and animations. I had a sense of the basic human body however I struggled with more complex poses and line weight. Over the course of the quarter I have been developing my skills and I've been experimenting more than I have in the past. I feel as though I have improved greatly and I feel inspired to draw again.

BEFORE

These were some of the first drawings I did in class. They were done very quickly and didn't have any variation in line weight. Overtime I experimented more with line weight which gives my drawings a lot more of a personal touch.

AFTER

In this piece I used varying line weights and ventured out of my comfort zone by using a male model rather than a female model as I am used to. I am very pleased with how this work came out and I feel encouraged to get out of my comfort zone more.

MOTION DRAWING

For my motion drawing I wanted to illustrate a women turning and moving around with her transparent piece of fabric. I chose to keep the fabric transparent rather than solid in order to better display the body and the model's movement.

COLLABORATIVE DRAWING

For my collaborative piece, I wanted to use something from everyone without doing any changes. I decided to do a sort of Alice in wonderland mixed with Wizard of Oz theme. This is the story of a woman in the ordinary world, transported to a fantasy scene while she makes her way to a wizard to help her get back home. I found this project to be very enjoyable because not only did I get to use something from everyone to create a singular work, I also got to take a look at what everyone has been working on. I think that this piece was a lot more effective than if I were to create it by myself because of the spontaneous way everything comes together.
