US History students collaboratively create an eBook using Google Slides. Students are the author, illustrator, and publisher of their own picture book. This picture book illustrates a brief history of US Presidents, their political parties, their years in office, and organizes them chronologically by era.

DAY 1
- PRE-LESSON: Add Assignment with a due date in Google Classroom "Pokemon Card"
- Introduce Adobe Spark with a low affect project, I tasked my students to make themselves a POKEMON card. Students learned to login to Adobe Spark with the TRUSD Google Account from the Chrome browser. (1 day, 55 minutes)
- Students will 'Share' their graphic in Adobe Spark to the Google Classroom page. The students cannot do this if you have not put a due date on the assignment in the Classroom.
Day 2
- PRE-LESSON: Add Assignment with a due date in Google Classroom "Presidential Trading Cards Day 1"
- Show an example of a President Trading Card to students, post in Google Classroom as "Materials." (see image to left)
- Using a PRINTED LIST of the US Presidents, call on students to pick a president. All student will make a different president on DAY 1.
- Students will 'Share' their graphic in Adobe Spark to the Google Classroom page.
DAY 3-5 (approximately 20 minutes a day)
- PRE-LESSON- review the work that was submitted, and pick a few to use as a teaching tool as to what was good and what needs more attention.
- Post Question: "What's missing?" in Google Classroom and link the student made cards.
- Review the cards for accuracy, readability, and formatting.
- Student pick 3 president on Day 3 to make and submit cards.
Day 4
- Pre-Lesson: Divide the class into groups or have each student make his/her own ebook. Save the BEST student cards into a folder in your Drive. Adjust the share settings on this folder to allow those with a link to be able to view only. Post this Folder as "Materials" in the Google Classroom. Create a Google Slide template for the ebook and insert any appropriate scaffold here.
- Share the Google Slide template to your Google Classroom marking "Make A Copy For Each Student" if students are creating their own OR have students assign a "Captain" of the group and share the template with the captain. The Captain is then responsible for sharing the template to the rest of the group.
- Groups receive a breakdown of tasks needed to complete the ebook and assigned duties. Groups finish making all 45 Presidential Trading Cards and organizing them by era.
- Teach the "Captain" how to add Alt Text to each image, who will then share their knowledge with the group.
- Groups present their ebook to the class, sharing an interesting fact they learned and a tip about the tech or software that was helpful.
