At TSTC, the safety of our employees and students is paramount, and we understand how unexpected emergencies and disasters can significantly disrupt both college operations and the personal lives of employees.
During and after an emergency or disaster, the safety and well-being of TSTC employees and students remains our top priority. The college is committed to offering supportive resources and guidance to help mitigate stress for those experiencing emotional, logistical, or financial challenges related to such events.
Effective and timely communication is critical during emergency events. TSTC provides updates through email, text, phone, and the Google platform to help ensure employees and students remain informed about campus closures, emergency conditions, and the availability of college-supported resources.
Flexibility is key in supporting employees after a disaster. Employees may be dealing with personal challenges such as commuting issues, damage to their homes, or caring for loved ones.
Remote Work Options – Employees may be eligible to work remotely using the equipment and tools provided by the College to do so.
Flexible Hours – Employees may be eligible to work flexible hours depending on the situation. This allowance would be made in conjunction with the manager and HR.
Justified Other Emergency Leave – Eligible employees may receive paid Justified Other Emergencies Leave of Absence for situations not covered in TSTC rules or regulations. Employees may be allowed up to five (5) working days of leave with pay with the Vice Chancellor's approval or their designated delegate, for a severe personal crisis or catastrophic situation which requires the employee's immediate attention.
TSTC Human Resources is your partner in helping you understand and access available benefits and resources—especially during times of crisis.
With 11+ campuses across the state, some TSTC locations may be able to provide access to electricity, water, or other essential services during emergency events. Additionally, select campuses with residential facilities may offer temporary shelter on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability and local circumstances.
TSTC provides employees access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which is available to provide confidential support to employees and their dependents. It’s free to use and offers a variety of helpful resources (TELUS Health Login (Username & Password: tstc)).
TSTC provides employees access to the Community Loan Center of the Heart of Texas (CLCHOT). CLCHOT is a low-Interest employer-based small dollar loan program as an alternative to costly payday & auto title lenders.
