The Student Development Team (SDT) looks into the holistic development of Tampinesians, and leads the school in implementing effective practices that focus on student development and student well-being. We seek to build a caring environment in which students are engaged in learning and motivated to give their best.

Our Year Head Team and the Discipline Committee oversees each level of students, and work closely with the Form Teachers to meet the social-emotional needs of our students.

They also work closely with other colleagues and rally every member of the school to provide socio-emotional aid for students who need the additional support, including those with special educational needs.

GROWTH MINDSET IN EDUCATION

We believe Tampinesians can develop a growth mindset and believe that their capabilities can be enhanced as a result of making effort, persevering under challenges, and continued practice. They view mistakes as ways to learn, embrace challenges, and persist in the face of setbacks.

SDT Team designs and runs school-wide programmes to encourage our students to adopt the Growth Mindset in their school work and everyday lives.

Some of the strategies adopted include

  • student empowerment in school experiences,

  • intentional reinforcement across multiple contexts in total curriculum, and

  • affirmation of positive behaviour in our students.

ENERGISED CLASSROOM

A positive school culture based on growth mindset leads to positive energy in the classrooms.

Our teachers impart life skills to enable students to become effective and confident learners.

PEER LEARNING AND SUPPORT

SDT Team also leads the implementation of a peer support network in our school. Our students learn attitudes and skills to work collaboratively with others and care for each other. They go out of their way to better the lives of their peers in impactful ways. In their classes and CCA, every Tampinesian cares for one another and is an important member of our supportive school community.

GOOD FRIENDS ARE HARD TO FORGET

CONNECTING WITH PARENTS TO CARE FOR OUR STUDENTS

The team also works with the teachers to identify students who need additional support for mental well - being and learning, and supports them with a network of caring peers and adults.

Our caring teachers work with parents to understand, support and equip them to better support their children in developing effective social and academic skills so that they could thrive in school.

Every staff member of our school works hard to ensure that our students are taught in a caring, supportive and safe school environment.
