Summary: As a secondary ed teacher it is important for my students to understand why bullying can be so dangerous and what could happen if you bully someone. As an English teacher,  it is my job to incorporate anti-bullying into the curriculum and this is how: 

There are many different ways that bullying and suicide can be introduced in an English classroom. One big way is by focusing on books that are specific to bullying and interpreting it within the lesson. 

How to interpret the lesson: 

•  Does it fit with the class objective or lesson plan of the day? 

• Close read the chapter that was read in class

• have a class discussion or a book talk about the book being read

• Different types of writing! 

Poetry is a good way for kids to not only use it as a way to cope but also as a way to express their emotions about what's happening in their life. 

Story writing and sharing it with the class (If students are comfortable)  are good for students to be able to share their problems and even problem-solve without really outing each other. Its important for the kids to know that they arent alone and a lot of other students are going through it with them too. 

Doesn't matter if you're an English teacher or a math teacher, All teachers should have an open-door policy and a safe space for their students. Let them know if they need somewhere to destress or a place to blow off steam your classroom is open. Don't forget if a student really needs help or is thinking of suicide to bring attention to that to the administrators and guidance counselor to help them.
