This website is going to presents the ideas and resources that surround the idea of teaching cultural history in school. This topic has been a debate throughout the country because some states want to limit what history is taught in schools.

This article is about who decides what we learn in our history classes. This articles comes after the recent bans on teaching certain topics on race and sex. It is interesting that people are trying to limit the history we learn and teach. Since there is not a core history curriculum the states decide what we learn. Some people argue the teaching leans too far left. However, there is too much of an emphasis on thinking of political correctness. Overall this article gives a better understanding on what goes into making a history curriculum

This article talks about how children are getting deprived of learning the extent of how our country use to be. History compared to other subjects is unique to teach because you can leave out certain events and not get the full story. You can leave out certain events that puts America in a bad light. Often times events that involve race will be left out of US history textbooks. As a history teacher you need to give the full events, even if it puts our country down. This article also gives ideas on how to make sure you are teaching these important topics.

This article discusses Critical Race theory and the debate on if it should be taught in history classes. Critical Race theory is an examination of most of our lives are shaped by race and ethnicity. People do not want this to be taught in schools because it looks at racism. They want to hide racism and not discuss it. This is not benefitting students at all. We should give students a diverse curriculum so they are able to absorb more information.

This article by the NY times goes in depth on teaching a wide variety of history. It has informative videos on the matter. 17 states have a limit on how race can be taught in schools. In the previous article they all have the same idea. In order to give children the best education possible you need to teach every topic. In order to teach history the good way you have to be able to critical about Americas past. It is okay to be critical of our past in order to grow our nation in the future. You need to also look into the textbooks you are using. You should use a modern textbook that talks about various topics.

Reading this book will give a better understanding on race and how American communities made everything segregated. I read this book in one of my history classes and it truly made me think about America and how I did not learn any of this in high school. I had no idea redlining and other segregation things happened.

Overall, when I am teaching history in the classroom I am going to incorporate all races. Instead of focusing on European culture, I want to focus on other cultures in order to give my students a better understanding of the world. It is so important that children and students understand the full story.
