Hi everyone! My name is Justin Oswald and I am a History Secondary Education major. Throughout my academic career, I have been engaged and fascinated with history and what the subject brings towards the education system. Although history teachers provide the content and events necessary for learning, there needs to be an expansion of certain history, as it is taught through a Eurocentric perspective. I will provide the tools needed to have a diverse and inclusive conversation in relevance towards historical events and people.
Eurocentric ways of teaching have been a pre developed notion in teacher's mindset. whether they are aware of it or not. There needs to be a change with the way that teachers present, annotate, and conceptualize history with others. Antiracist teachings means an inclusion of all races and/or ethnicities; teachers that find valuable and interesting progressive ways of teaching, are ones that will have a larger impact amongst students who associate with a minority.
