You will be working in groups to plan the story for your graphic novel.
Your planning needs to include :-
Characters
Places / Sets
Story
Breakdown of story into each panel to decide how the action will be spread across the page
Task 1 - Brainstorming
Get yourself into teams of no more than 3.
One person in your team is to start a new Jamboard or Google Drawing. Share it with the rest of the team.
Share ideas on the brainstorm about the 4 things listed in the activity.
Split the jobs that need to be done between members of the team.
Task 2 - Layout Planning
You will be designing the layout for a DOUBLE PAGE for the class Graphic Novel.
Make sure your pages are in PORTRAIT orientation so all the pages will match. Here are the things you need to think about while planning.
Title of the story
Where will the title be on the page?
How many panels there are and what shape they will be? Will they be of an even size or will some be bigger? What effect does making some bigger have?
The flow of the panels across the double page spread and so the flow of the story within the panels.
What part of the story appears in each of the panels?
What characters and background . setting elements do you need in each panel?
Task 3 - Character Views
You need to know what your characters look like from the front but also from other viewpoints as your action will not always be viewed from the front.
Each character needs a character view sheet so you know what they look like from the front, back, side and 3/4 views.
Task 4 - Backgrounds
Each of the panels where there is action happening will need a PLACE for that action to happen in. You need to research images of the possible place where that action could happen. Save these images as they will be used when you are designing your panels.
