Activity
Your graphic novel will need characters to tell the story. These characters can be realistic, cartoon, human, monster, animal, alien , rock ..... ANYTHING you like.
You need to be comfortable drawing your characters from different angles. You don't always view Batman from the front or the side! You also need to be able to show different expressions on your characters face so you can SEE how they are feeling.
Task 1 - Expressions
Key points for expressions.
You will see from the presentation on the right, the are some key things to get right to give a particular expression
Angle of the head
Shape of the mouth
Shape of the eye
Eyebrows
Have a go with the simple expressions from this presentation. You can do this on paper with pen / pencil / crayon or you can do it online by using the shapes and line tools in a Google Drawing.
Task 2 - Family
This document takes you through step by step how to make a portrait using Google Drawing.
Use this method to create characters of your family.
Find good photographs of family members who live in your house. They don't have to be all together as you can assemble them later.
Use this method to trace them.
Give you tracing a "style" so they look like characters in a graphic novel.
Assemble all you family "characters" together in a group.
You can stand your family characters together in the same panel
You could put each family character in their own panel.
