Coding Drones

You are going to be using code to control the movements of a drone.

Connecting your Drone.

Find the INDENTITY CODE for your drone.

It is written in RED INK on top of it.

Look in the wireless settings for your device and find the wireless that has the same code as your drone.

Make sure you choose YOUR drone code if there is a few of you coding at the same time.

Open up the DRONE BLOCKS app and click on "connect to Tello" on the top right of the screen.

Then click on the green "connect" button.

Testing your Drone.

Run a short algorithm to make sure your device, the Drone Blocks programme and the drone are all working well together.

The screen for Drone Blocks is very similar to the screen for mBlock that you have been using to code the mBots.

The menus for the code blocks are all down the left hand side and you drag and drop them into the main area.

The blocks also click together in the same way as the mBlock blocks do too.

When you pull over the blocks, some of them have changeable VARIABLES.

Make sure you click into where it says "in" - inches, and change it to "cm" - centimeters, as that is the measurements that we work in.

Find the correct blocks to put this short algorithm together to test your drone.

Remember - the blocks are the same colour as the menu they are in if you get stuck finding them.

Make sure your drone is placed in the position it is going to start from.

Click on the 3 lines at the top right, next to where it says "Untitled Mission"

On the drop down, click on "Launch Mission"

Your drone should now :-

Square Dance

Make your drone go round in a square then do a victory flip.

Remember to

Obstacle Course

Obstacle Course

On this presentation are the instructions to get your drone to move around an obstacle course.

Make sure you follow all the instructions carefully and be sure to take screen shots of your code as you do it so you can add it to your copy of the presentation.
