Design Elements
You will use a wide variety of paper, media and techniques to explore some of the design elements using your observational drawings as your inspiration.
Pattern and Texture
Look at your observational drawings and look for where texture is shown. How can you replicate some of this texture? Try rubbings outside the classroom onto textured surfaces, pushing media through patterned fabrics, create patterns by repeating and tracing.
Form
Look at your observational drawings and look for what 3D forms you can see. Try to focus on just the overall form and not any surface texture or pattern.
Use plasticine and / or card to make what you see. Take photographs and draw from the the photographs.
Colour and Shape
Look at your observational drawings and look for what colours you can see. See where these colours fall on the colour wheel. Try mixing these colours yourself and see what is opposite to give you highlight colours. What shapes can you see from your drawings? Remember shapes are flat and 2D.
