Practices/Training Sessions

Arrival

Players must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their training session or game and must be in uniform. Scholars who arrive early for practice must be supervised by an adult until their practice starts.

Players who are late will be introduced to the practice or training session at the discretion of the head coach. If your scholar is running late, you must text your designated coach with your estimated time of arrival. Parents/guardians should not call their coach during training sessions — coaches are not able to take any phone calls while coaching unless it is an emergency.

Games and Tournaments

Arrival

Players must arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the start of any game unless otherwise stated by the coach. Scholars who arrive early to a game must be supervised by an adult until the warm-up begins. Players who arrive later than the official arrival time will not participate in the first half of the game. Players who arrive prior after the start of the game will not be allowed to participate and will observe the game from the sidelines with the substitutes.

If your scholar is running late, you must text your designated coach with your estimated time of arrival.

Uniforms

Scholars must wear their full uniform at all games. Players will not be allowed to play in any uniform articles not provided by Success Academy Network programs. For safety reasons, scholars are not allowed to wear jewelry during practices, games, competitions, or performances.

Meals, Snacks, and Beverages

Scholars should eat a healthy meal a minimum of 1.5 hours before starting their activity and may bring a light, healthy snack to eat before practice. Water is mandatory for each practice, and Gatorade and Vitamin Water may be brought as a supplement.

Practice Visitation for Network Athletic Teams

Indoor training sessions may be closed to parents/guardians depending on facility constraints and coach’s discretion.

Competition and Tournament Day Expectations

Our competition and tournament day expectations are designed to help scholars build their competitive skill sets while enjoying the experience of competing.

Athlete Expectations

Athletes’ playing time will be determined by the head coach. Playing time is based on attendance at training sessions and games, as well as player commitment level and playing ability. Success Academy Network teams guarantee 100% playing time at every training session unless there are behavior/safety issues.

Parent/Guardian Expectations

From the start of warm-up to the final whistle and debrief, players are with the coach and should not be interacting with parents/guardians or spectators unless instructed by the coach.

If there is an injury, players will be examined by the medical crew (if applicable) or their coach. Parents/guardians may not enter the field of play or court without explicit permission.

Parents/guardians should address non-urgent concerns with the coach a reasonable time after the game has concluded and all of the coach's game day responsibilities are completed.

Moving Between Teams

Success Academy Network teams are highly selective. In addition to commitment, behavior, and academic performance, players are assessed on their skill, effort, and rate of development. Coaches reserve the right to move players back to their school team if it is determined that the Network team is not the most appropriate place for that player’s development. In these situations, the program manager and network coach will meet with the family before the decision is made.

Internal Success Academy Clubs

Players are allowed to participate in any Success Academy club that does not materially interfere with the Network team schedule. Attendance rules will still apply, and sessions missed due to other activities will be unexcused. Conflicts with selective special events held by other Success Academy programs will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Age-Appropriate Play Policy

While we believe that playing at an age-appropriate level is best for most kids, we recognize that some players may be physically, technically, and psychologically ready for the next age level in our competitive team structure. During the annual selection process, the program manager and coaching staff for each applicable age group will evaluate all players who have potential to be moved up an age level and make a determination. Players who are approved to play at the next age level may play at that level for one year only and will be re-evaluated at the end of the year to ensure appropriate placement.

If a team is still not full and needs additional players after the selection process, the coach may consider younger players for their team only if the age-appropriate team is full. These players can only be considered with the approval of the program manager.
