Attendance

We expect scholars to come to school every day for the entire day. If your child is ill and will be absent or late to school, you must contact the Main Office before the start of the school day.

We track the following infractions: absences, tardies, and early dismissals, as well as when no one calls the Main Office by the school’s start time to inform us that a scholar will be absent or late. Absences and tardies can be either excused or unexcused, as set forth in the chart below (which is not exhaustive):

Scholars absent for illness will have up to six absences that can be considered excused without submitting a doctor’s note. Families must communicate that their scholar is ill on the same day of the absence in order for it to be excused. These days can be taken at any point in the year, consecutively or individually. Families are still encouraged to call or visit the doctor, especially in the event that your scholar is sick for multiple days.

If your child is regularly absent from school, they are likely to fall behind academically and socially. If your child misses more than 15 days of school, they may fail academically and have to repeat the grade.
