Visual and Performing Arts:
High School of Liberal Arts Dual Enrollment

Visual and Performing Arts

All Success Academy high school students have the chance to take visual and performing arts courses at some of the most prestigious institutions in New York City to hone talents, stand out on their college applications, and even earn college credit. This is part of all of our high school scholars’ standard course offerings.

Eligibility and Application

To be eligible, currently enrolled HSLA scholars must have demonstrated a consistent track record of academic achievement and outstanding character. Most accepted scholars are earning average grades of 70% or higher for academic subjects — although scholars who have demonstrated a strong upward trajectory are also considered.

In addition, scholars must also complete an application and video interview, and will be evaluated on their communication skills as well as their background and passion in their field of choice. Please note that some institutions may also require an external application that must be submitted and approved to participate.

Attendance

Scholars must adhere to each partner institution’s attendance policies, as well as notify the institution of when they will be absent. Each institution reserves the right to remove scholars who do not meet their attendance requirements. When this happens, the SA high school will be contacted. Scholars who are removed from a program may lose an elective or college credit.

Grading

Each institution will be provided with a rubric that will be used to evaluate scholars on the quality and completion of their work. At the end of each quarter, scholars will provide a work sample and written reflection; their submission will be graded by experts in their chosen field. Failure to meet the evaluation criteria may also result in the loss of elective or college credit.
