Scholar Talent and Clubs:
Policies and Expectations
Scholar Talent and Clubs
We believe that a scholar’s ability to excel on competitive Network teams is based not only on their exceptional talent, but also on their ability to demonstrate adherence to Success Academy academic, school readiness, and behavior guidelines. This is especially important for our scholars who travel for club competitions or performances, or attend high-stakes state, regional or national competitions.
Expectations
To be eligible for participation in games, competitions, tournaments, and/or performances, scholars must meet the following requirements:
Meet all academic requirements.
Elementary schoolers must maintain an 80% average homework completion
Middle schoolers must maintain above a 70% year-to-date grade in all courses
High schoolers must not fail any core content courses (maintain a grade of 70% or above) and must have a year-to-date GPA above 1.7
Reference the Academic Policies for more information about meeting academic requirements in each grade level.
Please note: Middle school and high school scholars on academic probation cannot compete, perform, or travel until they meet the academic requirements — but they will still attend club and team practices as scheduled. These scholars may write a letter and schedule a meeting with their Scholar Talent Manager or Assistant Principal petitioning their current status. If growth and effort has been demonstrated, Scholar Talent Managers may take the scholar off academic probation and have them resume full participation.
Be consistently in attendance and on time. Scholars that have excessive tardies and/or absences may be removed from club/team participation at school leadership’s discretion.
Demonstrate excellent sportsmanship and effort. Sportsmanship is demonstrated through fair, friendly behavior toward others, including members of opposing teams.
Scholars who are suspended for more than one day per quarter will have a conversation with their school principal and club teacher/coach to discuss whether they will continue participating in clubs. For competitive teams, the Scholar Talent Network Manager(s) may also be included in the conversation.
Infractions
Scholars who violate academic, behavior, or club expectations will receive an infraction, and repeated infractions may disqualify scholars from participation.
