We believe that a scholar’s ability to excel on competitive Network teams is based not only on their exceptional talent, but also on their ability to demonstrate adherence to Success Academy academic, learning readiness, and behavior guidelines. This is especially important for our scholars who travel for club competitions or performances, or attend high-stakes state, regional or national competitions.
To participate in clubs or competitive teams, students must meet specific academic, attendance, and behavioral standards.
Academic Expectations
Elementary School (ES):
Students must maintain an 80% average for homework completion.
Middle School (MS):
Students will be placed on academic probation if their cumulative course grade falls below 70%.
High School (HS):
Students may be benched from competitions if they fail one or more core courses.
Attendance Expectations
Consistent attendance and punctuality are mandatory for all students. Excessive tardiness or absences can lead to removal from any club or team at the discretion of school leadership.
In high school, students with five or more unexcused absences or over three tardies per trimester may also be benched from competitions.
Behavioral and Sportsmanship Expectations
Students must consistently demonstrate excellent sportsmanship and effort. This includes fair and friendly behavior towards everyone, including opposing teams.
Students who are suspended for more than one day per quarter will meet with their school principal and club teacher/coach to discuss their continued participation. For competitive teams, the Scholar Talent Network Manager(s) may also join this discussion.
If a student receives a suspension or a Letter of Reprimand (LOR), their exclusion or benching from the activity or club will be decided by their school's senior leader.
For high school students, serious behavioral or ethical issues may result in exclusion from competitive teams, determined on a case-by-case basis.
Infractions
Scholars who violate academic, behavior, or club expectations will receive an infraction. Repeated infractions may disqualify scholars from participation.
