Photo 1

Final Reflection:

1) Do you feel you experience in photo 1 was successful?

I feel like my experience in photo 1 was very successful. I learned so many new skills and completed my work in a timely manner. My overall grade for the class is and has been easily passing through my time in the class, which tells me that I succeeded in that way for sure. Learning about composition rule, how to use film , and dealing with the dark room/prints and such also makes me feel successful because of my new skills that I am proud to have mastered.

2) What was the hardest thing for you while taking this course? How did you overcome this difficulty to become successful?

The hardest thing for me while taking this course was definetly developing film and making prints of that film. It took me multiples try to successfully roll my film during our introduction to film unit, but I seeked help when I needed it and just kept trying until I got it down. Same goes from the chemical process, it just took some extra practice for me. Learning and memorizing all of the steps to make my negatives into prints was also a good challenge. It took me a while to just have down all of the steps, and even once I had them down, because everthing has to be done just right I had quite a few mistakes. I just took these mistakes as opportunities to learn though, so this allowed me to  continue to progress and get past these obsticles.

3) What project was your favorite this year and why?

I enjoyed the film portraits project the most this year. At this point I had the proccess down pretty well, so I just got to go around and capture fun moments with my friends. Sense I was pretty comfortable woth the film making process I was able to enjoy my self, and I always love developing prints and seing the final result. I am very fond of the look of film photos which is just another reason why the portrait film project was my favorite this year.

4) What was you least favorite project this year and why?

My least favorite project this year would be words and images. First of all, I dont find much joy in usuing photo shop. I find it overwhelming and confusing to learn the different techniques, which is a challenge that I worked past, but on top of that I just don't really like my final products. I am not a fan of how they turned out and I probably could have put a little more effort into them to make them more meaningful and presentable.

5) How has  your understanding of photography (composition and technique) and your appreciation of photography (the work of other photographers) been impacted by this class?

This class taught me so much about how to take a quality photo, as well as the challenges that can come with it. I remember at the start of the class when we were shown all of the composition rules I had no clue what the majority of them meant. As i gained an understanding for them, I saw a noticeable change in my photo taking skills. From then on my photos have amore profesional feel to them. With this deeper understanding of what goes into a good photo, I gained an appreciation for photographers. I never understood how much knowledge and practice these experts have gone through to get to where they are.
