Graphite on pastel paper

The original idea for this was just to draw a self portrait. I found an old picture of myself from when I was 4 and tried to make it as realistic as possible.

The materials I used were graphite pencils in many different shades, and a moldable eraser on pastel paper.

To make this drawing I started by drawing light grids on my printed picture as well as the blank pastel paper. Once I get to this point I started matching up square by square with a viewfinder and drew little by little. I drew lightly at first then once I had the basic outline I added more shading.
