Sgraffito 

I was told to create an interesting black and white drawing, so I thought it would be cool if I did some kind of animal and incorporated opposites with the colors and designs, so that's how I decided on butterfly. 

For this project I used clay, black paint coating, and eventually glaze. I mostly used a needle tool when carving.

I started by cutting a clay slab, kneading it, and shaping into a circle ish thing. Then I painted on the black coating, let that dry, and began drawing the butterfly design. Once I was done it was put into the kilm, then taken out to glaze, then put back in to finish it off.
