Sgraffito

The instructions of this project was to come up with a design, and then carve it into a dried clay block, finally glazing the block and then firing it to finish the piece.

The materials I used for this project were very simple, I started with just a white gel pen on black construction paper for my idea design, and then I moved to my clay slab with a carving tool to make the design. After that I used glaze  to help it look more finished after it was fired. 

The process of this project was very easy for me, since I knew I wanted to do something more organic, but also a pattern that looked cool or caused you to look at the piece longer. After I figured that out the process was not hard at all and I just carved my block and then fired it.
