Charcoal and ink on pastel paper
The assignment for this project was to pick a picture, turn it black and white, and then up-scale it (in my case x2) to draw it.
The materials I used for this project are charcoal and ink. I mainly used charcoal, but I incorporated the ink by using a white gel pen on some highlights, and whiskers to make the white pop.
I think the biggest changes I went through with this peice was the process I used. I generally stayed with the process by making the background of the sqaure a grey and then adding the details and hair on top. But at the beginning of this project I was adding the hair by doing black first and then white, but at the end I realized if I put white strokes down and then black it would blend a little better and create a more realistic look. I think the hardest part of this project was the nose and facial features. I tried to copy my picture as much as I could but one eye looks kind of weird and I am not very happy with how the nose looks.
