In these three direct observational drawings I drew a self portrait, a still life object, and a corner of a hallway. The aim of the prompt was to create pieces that exhibit what our baseline skill of art is. I tried to spend an equal amount of time on each drawing. In the self portrait piece I tried to create the best face I could while not drawing the mask. In the Still life drawing I tried to most realistically represent a stool because it was the closest thing sitting next to me on the floor. In the Corner of a hallway perspective drawing, I drew the hallway in the upstairs of my house. I tried to best convey the way that the ceiling shifts to the wall, and the wall shifts to the floor. These are the concepts that I tried to get across while creating these drawings. The materials that i used to create these pieces of artwork were all the same. I used graphite on 9 inch by 12 inch paper on all of the pictures. These materials are very basic but they can also convey an incredible amount of meaning, The way that you shade and place the color in black and white pictures can really shape the way that a piece of artworks turns out. Because of this, I tried to pay attention to the shading of the pictures and the way that shading can better convey realism along with the sketching and framing of the drawing itself. In this project we did direct observational drawings meaning that we did not look at any pictures we drew the things that we directly saw. There was not a lot of support from outside sources except for the exact thing that I was drawing and looking at. Overall these drawings were interesting to make and see what my base art skills were!
