Colored pencil on bristol board

9"x12"

Artist Statement: In this unit we were allowed to create any project that we wanted using skills that we learned from past units. What I decided to do with this project was create an image with color that had some sort of perspective aspect to it. I used colored pencil colors that contrast each other on opposite sides for example red and green are opposite colors so I tried to position them across from each other. Overall I tried to make a fairly simple image that would include perspective and color gradients. The materials that were used in this project were just colored pencil and bristol board paper. Using the colored pencils I pressed down harder in the middle and slowly released the pressure until the color changed shades and created a value strip type of look. I chose the bristol board paper but it might not have been the best choice because it was hard to press down enough with the pencils that the color of the paper would show through. However, the colored gradient was still able to be shown. This project was another project that was open ended and there were not a lot of processes that we had to go through in order to create the projects. I really just started drawing and had a loose idea of what I wanted to do and once I got into the rhythm and style of what I wanted for each color I repeated the process for each color and then I was done. Overall I enjoyed being able to select what project I could do and have fun with it!
