Artist Statement

In the Pure Contour Hand, my first two fingers were curved, making my ring finger look a bit longer. Also, I chose to use watercolors/graphite pencil on the sleeve because I messed up the pattern on it. I know I wasn't supposed to, but it looked awful with the sleeve pattern messed up (I had made some of the triangles way too big). To make this, I did an outline with graphite pencil, then drew over it with a Sharpie pen. I didn't really have a main idea for this work, and I only made one draft, although I did spend a lot of time carefully examining the pattern on my sleeve.

For the shoes, I didn't exactly make multiple drafts, but I had to erase a large amount of what I'd done on the frontal view because I totally messed up the shape. I made these by doing an outline with a graphite pencil, then going back and adding detail. I made these by drawing a real-life object.
