Duck Stamp

Goose Family

9" x 12"

Graphite pencil, colored pencil, and pen on bristol

For this image, I was trying to make a realistic looking Ross's Goose.

To create this artwork, I first made two sketches using graphite pencil, drawing from a photographic model. Then, over many days, I drew a more detailed version of the bird (Ross's Goose) using graphite pencil, colored pencil, and pen. I added color, and that's pretty much it.

I spent a lot of time researching Ross's Geese to figure out what they looked like. Technically, I made three drafts, since I made two rough drafts to practice doing it, before making my third, and final, draft.
