Capstone Step two

For step two of our capstone project we focused on building prototypes and data gathering what worked and what didn't. We also made sure to draw lots of visual aids and do some 3d modeling of designs before creating our prototypes so no materials would be put to waste.

Since we had already bought the car which is the base of our project we started working on designing the top of our car where we would be storing the materials that could be distributed from class to class.

After making some designs we built a wooden box design and began testing our car while making observations and noticing what problems would need to be fixed and how to do so.  We also began work on our First person point of view system, this system will allow the driver to be able to remotely pilot the car and see where the car is going even if theyre on the opposite side of campus. We also installed a longer range remote as from testing we found the car used to lose signal when the car was behind buildings.

Engineering concepts

While in the design and innovating process we found drawing out and expanding on every possible idea to be vitally useful so that even if an idea seemed far stretch some components of the idea could possibly be incorporated into a final design.

We also delved deeper into 3-d modeling and began using fusion 360 as another platform to learn to 3d model on. We watched multiple tutorials and have been able to create some cool models such as headphones and a helmet. With this I've been able to start 3d printing components and using the learnign done from this class to be directly used in the project.

Reflection:

In this project I excelled at critical thinking as we had to constantly design and redesign components for our project as theres no guidebook to build what we're trying to do so everything we plan to build has to be custom and work best for our platform. I also did well as a conscientious learner due to the variety of perspectives needed whilst working on this project. Since our car has to have strict priorities of not only efficiency at its job but also safety and reliability I've had to come into this project looking at a variety of angles and think about how good components or ideas might have to be thrown away when they don't fit all the values needed from the car.

Two things I lacked on in this project were being a collaborator and communicator. I lacked as a collaborator due to sadly being either sick or at the doctors a lot durign the project so I lacked in being able to continuosly collaborate with the project and provide insight or thoughts to the project, henceforth this also causing me to lack as a communicator as well. Both of these can be resolved if I also put in more extra time into the project when not being sick or disabled so I plan on doing this in the future.
