For this unit we were assigned the task of writing 5 poems this is so we could explore the use of poetic devices we are able to better able appreciate and understand poetry. This will allow us to improve our writing skills and increase our imagination and awareness of the world we occupy.

Reflection:

My writing process for this unit involved finding out what we had to write about then trying to find what my inner meaning or feeling is towards that object or emotion and why I feel that way. Time management was also very important for these poems because writing them and then editing them to portray the meaning you want afterward was very time consuming.

This unit allowed me to grow in a communicative point in which I am now better prepared to communicate my feelings and my thoughts using poetry. I also was able to improve my character by showing how I feel and what I think about the world and through these poems.

Two things I could use improvement on are adding more emotion to the poem and being able to present these ideas to the class better by speaking more confidently and raising my voice.

Lastly my views on the poetry slam are quiet positive, I found that a lot of students in my class had a lot to say and were finally able to tell the class about their experiences and feeling therefore this allowed them to write good poems about themselves. All in all, I wouldn´t know them as well if it weren´t for this poetry slam.
