Drawing tutorials

Throughout this period of time of drawing tutorials we have completed over 10 weeks over drawing tutorial lessons and drawings dealing with a multitude of lessons from different perspectives, shadings and overall sketching skills to enhance our abilities to build blue prints for future projects. As this was for our engineering class being able to sketch our possible products to build is a vital skill and very useful for this class.

Content:

Orthographic drawings: A drawing showing an object at a rotated and elevated angle so you can see two sides and the top of the drawing. This also uses 3 point perspective by requiring 3 projection lines to construct the object

Occluded lines and edges: hidden lines and edges which allow you to see the geometry behind such lines and edges

Line weights and shadows: these help allow the viewer gain some sense of the object bing on some form of a surface or getting hindsight of how light will affect the image of such sketch. The further apart the hatched lines are the lighter the object appears the closer they are together the darker the object appears.

Vignette: adding a box or rectangle behind your sketch to add more depth, dimensionality and allow your sketch to "pop" more

Ghost lines: these help make the scaffolding which eventually brings out the permanent lines of your sketch

Explanatory Sketches: these are sketches which are created lightly to show the ideas of the artist being streamed out of their mind.

Reflection:

I enjoyed these drawing tutorials as I want to be a future engineer and having the abilities to draw out my plans and make blueprints which others can follow is truly a vital skill to be had in the future. Without having sketches no one would know what you're planning on building or how to follow someone else's instructions. Due to this i'm very happy I had the opportunity to start learning these vital skills and gain experience sketching out products and blueprints which are essential for an engineer to then build.

I excelled in these drawing tutorials by feeling myself progress greatly. At the start of this I knew how to use perspective to draw out my shapes but didn't have any idea how useful scaffolding your sketches could be into making designs clearer and more accurate. Secondly the ability to shade and learn how drawing products from every angle is vital, have all been great lessons I've learned from.

Over the course of these tutorials I believe I have strongly increased in my ability to sketch and create clearer shapes, learn how to use scaffolding, shading lines and how to draw objects from every angle. Due to this I would feel I've been a great consciencious learner. Next I feel I've been a great collaborator as I made sure to follow all the instructions of these videos and due them in a timely fasion as to not get behind and always stay ahead when learning new drawing skills each week.

However, I could have improved during these lessons by having an over the top work ethic and practiced drawing more on my free time rather than just doing the drawing tutorials assigned. Secondly I could have tried to get outside resources such as classmates or other online mentors to help improve my abilities and gotten advice as well, however I didn't and as a result both of these things I will work to do more of in my future projects.
