NGSS Standards:
NGSS.HS-ETS1-2 Design a solution to a complex real-world problem by breaking it down into smaller, more manageable problems that can be solved through engineering.
DCI - ETS1.B When evaluating solutions, it is important to take into account a range of constraints, including cost, safety, reliability, and aesthetics, and to consider social, cultural, and environmental impacts. (HS.ETS1-3)
Learning outcomes: Students will be able to:
Ask questions - that arise from careful observation of phenomena, or unexpected results, to clarify and/or seek additional information. - that arise from examining models or a theory, to clarify and/or seek additional information and relationships. - to determine relationships, including quantitative relationships, between independent and dependent variables. - to clarify and refine a model, an explanation, or an engineering problem.
Evaluate a question to determine if it is testable and relevant.
Ask and/or evaluate questions that challenge the premise(s) of an argument, the interpretation of a data set, or the suitability of a design.
Define a design problem that involves the development of a process or system with interacting components and criteria and constraints that may include social, technical, and/or environmental considerations.

Introduction to 3D Modeling self-paced presentation and notes (take pictures of the journal and upload on Google Classroom) Due Wednesday 01/08 (INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT)
Work on Drawing tutorials "Vignette Lines and Product Design" due Wednesday 01/15 (Individual on paper and pictures for portfolio updates)
Onshape tutorials step 1 On Google Classroom Due Friday 01/10 (INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT)
Brainstorm with your team and come up with 3 hand-drawn, labeled sketches of 3 possible design ideas (different versions, where to place the different elements, different configurations) for your capstone product, use the technique practiced in the drawing tutorials (If you have them you can improve upon the sketches you made for your initial Capstone proposal report and presentation) clearly explain the contribution of each member to the different designs take clear pictures and post them on GC. Use this to plan the first prototypes, both physical and 3D digital, what materials will you use? what tools would you need? what skills do you need to practice what should you talk about with your mentors? what are you going to test? On Google Classroom Due Friday 01/10 (TEAM ASSIGNMENT)
WORK ON MENTORS COMMUNICATION PROGRESS DOC #2- You must include all communications with your mentors that have occurred so far. INCLUDE THE INSIGHTS RECEIVED FROM THE STEM FUND Work on a Google doc that includes all dated communications between your team and your possible mentors (emails, notes from phone calls, zoom, etc...), in this document, include any insights/ideas regarding the capstone that came up during such exchanges with the mentors, finally include the dates for the official interviews that you are setting up with your mentors. Due Friday
