Logo Design &Vector/Bitmap Images

OBJECTIVES: 

• Learn how to design a Logo

• Learn how to use mind maps to brainstorm possible Logo designs

• Learn the difference between Vectors vs Bitmap images

• Learn how to convert your paper and pencil sketch into a digital 2D sketch Using the Inkscape Software

Steps:

1. Brainstorm on paper (draw mind maps, think of your passions, the chosen field of engineering, possible product etc..., make connections) (group)

2. Informal logo sketches (on a piece of paper, as many as you can) (Individual)

3. Research logo tips and tricks and existing Logo designs (Individual & Group discussion, check links below)

4. Formal Paper and pencil design draft (using words, images, multiple viewpoints, include dimensions) (Individual on a piece of paper)

5. Convert your individual paper and pencil sketch into a digital 2D sketch. (Use Inkscape or research free software to do so, check link below)

6. Compromise: students present their logo to their team. The group chooses one or two possible logos (Group) 

7. Blend/refine: Refine the chosen logo by discussing with other team members. If you choose more than one logo try to create a new one that incorporate all the chosen logos' characteristics (Compromise!!!More Group Brainstorming is Required!!!)

8. Convert the final team's logo into a digital 2D sketch. (Use Inkscape or research free software to do so, check link below)
