Be mentor Specific: you should have some names of possible mentors in your areas of interest by now.
Do your research: actually research the possible mentors’ areas of expertise and work/professional experience.
Briefly Introduce yourself and your achievements related to your project goals.
Write some general final project ideas. TIP: what would you like to do? Start from the problem you want to solve, or the societal need you want to tackle. Have a vision!!!
Proofing: have at least 3 different people read your cover letter before you submit it
Mentor’s time: Be specific about what do you want from your mentor. Be specific about the time commitment/involvement you expect from your mentor (these are usually busy professionals) Remember, Mentors should help you narrowing down your idea for the capstone project.
Portfolio: Insert a link to your STEM weebly portfolio
Plan B and C: If you plan to work with the plane mentors have a plan B. Only 12 spaces per class are available. In any case contact at least 3 mentors.
