Welcome to 6th Grade Humanities!
6th Grade Humanities integrates literature, writing, history, civics, geography, and ethics through the study of enduring human questions. With a primary emphasis on English Language Arts, students will read and discuss works of literature, poetry, primary sources, and historical texts while developing skills in close reading, analytical writing, research, grammar, and thoughtful discussion. Throughout the year, students will explore the peoples and cultures of the Americas alongside other important works of the humanities, returning often to our guiding question: What does it mean to be human, and how should we live? In keeping with the Catholic intellectual tradition, the course encourages students to seek truth, recognize beauty, grow in virtue, and learn to think and communicate with clarity and charity.
