Letter from the Administration

Introduction to Friendzy

Dear Families,
At St. Albert the Great we aim to help student’s increase their literacy and love for Scripture, and provide as many opportunities as possible to practice Godly living. This is why we've decided to introduce Friendzy this year; A whole-school program that teaches life skills to our students with an emphasis on building strong, healthy and Godly friendships.
The Friendzy program provides simple, memorable ways for your student to learn and practice God's design for Friendship. Every month we will introduce to the entire school campus one simple phrase and two corresponding key verses for students to learn and practice. In class, the students will spend 20-40 minutes weekly focusing on this catchphrase and key verses with activities, games and group discussions. Your student even has a workbook of their very own filled with colorful activity and journaling pages! With the help of Friendzy, students will get to learn from scripture and from each other what it means to be a really good friend.
We hope that by providing students the opportunity to learn about and practice life skills like teamwork, self-management, responsible decision making, goal setting, emotional literacy, and conflict resolution, students will have an increased capacity to reach and even surpass our rigorous academic goals. Most importantly, we believe that Friendzy will make the gospel message of Jesus come to life in a way that will increase each student's desire and ability to apply and live out God's word.
Every month expect a newsletter from me introducing the month’s catchphrase and key verses as well as simple ideas for how you can continue the Friendzy at home. We are excited for this focus on friendship, and are glad to have our whole school family participating!
Thank you for partnering with us! It is a joy to teach your student the importance of friendship. We want to stay connected with you in this journey, so please reach out with any questions, concerns, or celebrations you encounter.
When kids learn friendship, they learn it for life!
Blessings,

Stacie Short

School Policy Updates

Academic Eligibility

Starting after PTS Conferences, we will begin checking student grades in grades 4-8 for academic eligibility. If a student has two failing grades, they will be ineligible to participate in all extracurricular activities. Parents will receive a letter if their child is ineligible. The Academic Extracurricular Eligibility Policy can be found under Section 23.2 of the Parent-Student Handbook.

Item Drop Offs

Effective Tuesday, October 18, 2022

St. Albert will be instituting a new policy of no longer accepting items that are left at home. This policy will be implemented school wide; Preschool- 8th grade.

As a school, we need to encourage children to take responsibility and accept any consequence that may come with leaving things at home. In talking with other area schools; they have similar policies in place.

Children will no longer be allowed to call from school for items such as but not limited to: chromebooks, binders/folders, homework, water bottles.

If you/your child forgets their lunch, they can buy lunch from the cafeteria.

Important Reminders

  • Always include the office in correspondence with teachers regarding absences, dismissal changes, etc. (Amy Baker -abaker@stalbert.org)

  • Always include the office if your child is participating in an afterschool activity, tutoring, club, etc.

  • When in doubt, SEND AN EMAIL

  • Always send in a lunch and drink on ALL 12:30 dismissal days!
