Conference Time

This week you will be receiving information on how to sign up for Parent, Teacher, Student Conferences. We are so happy to be able to offer both in person and virtual conferences this year. As a former teacher, this truly was one of my many favorite parts of my job. Getting to meet parents of my students was so beneficial, enlightening and fun! Finally getting to meet and spend time discussing and goal setting with the other part of each childs’ educational team was encouraging and motivating. (and exhausting after 27 PTS Conferences)

Kids do better in school when parents are involved. Meeting together as a team allows students to see their parents working together with their teacher: all with the same goal to help them grow and succeed. By parents and teachers sharing their thoughts and experiences, they can better understand and work toward what is best for the child.

Fall conferences are so important. By October, teachers and students have a good idea of what is going well, and what areas may need some improvement. We have (hopefully) gotten into a school “routine” and can now focus on goals for the trimester and for the year. It is especially important this year to be goal setting. Since we have been out of “in person” instruction since March, we have a lot of catching up to do. We have catching up to do in so many areas. Not only academics, but social and emotional too! We need to make sure our kids are healthy physically, socially and emotionally. We look forward to seeing you on October 12 and 13!

1st - 8th Grade Parent Orientations

Instead of an Orientation Night where the halls and classrooms are packed with parents and staff, we are taking a safer approach and offering sessions virtually. We want to provide you with valuable grade-specific information while keeping your family and our staff safe during this pandemic time.

Start, by listening to a welcome message from our Principal, Ellen Martin. Then click on the links that pertain to your family. Your child's teacher(s) will explain what the students are currently learning, what they will be learning, and class expectations, routines, and homework details. We look forward to working with you over the next 8 months as we assist your child, our student, during a successful school year ahead.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

October 12 & 13, 3-8pm

Our sign up for PTS conferences will open next Monday, October 5. PTS conferences will be offered on Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13 from 3:00 - 8:00. You will be able to choose between two formats: virtual and in person meetings.

We are excited to meet with parents to share how the start of the school year has gone, and set goals for the rest of the year. Teachers will not be sharing fall MAP test results. We will be using our fall test results as a gauge for teachers as to where their students are: what needs to be covered, and where we need to go.

The BookFair Began today!

Students will have time in library to purchase things from the books fair and will also be open during conferences next week on Monday and Tuesday, 12th & 13th!

Raised Garden Beds For Preschool

Several current and former St. Albert students volunteered for an Eagle Scout Service Project benefiting our St. Albert preschool. Led by Ballard sophomore James Green, the Scouts from St. Albert’s Troop 327 built three, raised flower beds that are now located in the preschool playground area behind the Parish Life Complex.

The flower beds will be used for educational enrichment for our preschool students. Teachers and preschoolers will plant, water flowers and monitor growth during their outdoor activities.

Thank you to these youth who participated: Adam Fish, Nick Hiland, James Green, Bryce Green, Hayden Kappesser, Noah McQuillen, Andy Recktenwald, Will Recktenwald, Lucas Santamouris, Jacob Wise and Josh Wise.

--- FROM YOUR PTO ---

Conference Dinner Signup

It's hard to believe it, but Parent/Teacher Conferences are just around the corner and we need your help. In keeping with tradition, the PTO will provide dinner for our teachers on both evenings of the conferences (Oct. 12th and Oct. 13th) in the teachers lounge. We are looking for volunteers to help provide additional items to make this a very special event for our teachers.

It is a wonderful way to show our gratitude to the teachers for all their hard work!! In addition it is an easy way to support the PTO if otherwise your schedule hasn't permitted.

PTO is Looking for a Stewardship Committee Co-Chair!

The Stewardship Committee is looking for a co-chair for this school year. Duties include working with the committee chair and parents from grades 5-7 to help organize service events and projects for each class. The service activities teach our students about service to others, which is the foundation of our Catholic faith. Through our actions, we are sharing God’s love with others in their time of need. If you would like more information please contact Peggy Hertel at ptostewardship@stalbert.org or 502-693-3398.

Yearbook Committee

The Yearbook committee would like to encourage parents, students, teachers, and staff to have their cameras ready! We will be incorporating a lot of candid photos into the yearbook this year. Special links to submit photos and more info coming soon!
