Finding Time for Lent

We entered into this Lenten season last Wednesday. Our fast paced hectic lives may seem to leave little time for the traditional Lenten practices. However, we can experience moments of spiritual awareness and service in our lives. The trick is to see Lenten practice as part of, rather than in addition to, our ordinary hectic days.

The three foundational practices of Lent are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Here are a few new ways of thinking about these foundational practices.

Praying Daily

If you make a habit of saying a little prayer whenever someone irritates you or does you a favor, when you experience friendly service or when something joyful happens to you--you will soon find yourself praying your way through the day.

A Different Type of Fasting

There are many ways to fast. Try fasting from criticism, gossip, or judging others. Try being the confident, blessed person God calls you to be. These are beautiful ways to observe the Lenten call to fasting and abstinence.

Give of Yourself

Daily life also offers countless opportunities to give of yourself to others. Show kindness to someone who could use a friend, or offer a word of thanks to those whose service of others often goes unappreciated. Give the gift of your attention to someone who simply wants to be noticed. Tell your children stories about people whose values you admire. Most importantly, give your love to those close to you.

So no matter how busy we are in life, with some greater awareness we can consciously pray, fast, and give of ourselves this Lent.

COVID Policies

While we are very excited our staff is receiving the vaccine and encouraged that numbers are decreasing we still want to be sure we continue to be diligent in not 'letting our guard down'.

We want to remind parents of our Re-Entry Handbook and specifically doctors appointment policies.

"If a student must leave for an appointment, we ask that they not return to school for the remainder of that day."

Class Composites Are Available To Order For A Limited Time!

Class Composites are now available to order! Get yours today at inter-state.com/order. Use Order Code 57456ZQ. These are available until Wed, 03/10/21 at 11:59 pm.

Pre-Registration Fee

Just a reminder, on March 12, 2021, we will automatically draft your Pre-Registration fee of $100 per student (current returning students) through your FACTS account, in order to reserve your child’s spot in class for the 2021-2022 school year. In the past, we drafted pre-registration fees in early February. But due to potential Covid-19 hardships and the recent holiday season, we decided to postpone payments until mid March.

You will receive a notification from FACTS Management via email in advance before your account is drafted. If you have any questions, please contact Cheryl Harper at charper@stalbert.org or 425-3940, x107.

2021-22 School Board Open Positions

The School Board is now seeking volunteers and nominations for the open Voting Member positions for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. We are seeking individuals to fill the following two positions.

  • Policy Chair

    • The policy committee evaluates existing policies in the areas of Community Relations, Administration, Personnel, Students & Instruction and Business & Non-Instructional Operations. It also formulates any policy additions or changes needing to be addressed immediately. This is a great committee if you like rules or have experience in human resources, public relations, real estate, education, finance and law.

  • Technology Chair

    • The technology committee drafts a school technology plan, including budget, by assessing existing technology, prioritizing a wish list and gathering cost estimates on securing wish list items. It also evaluates how technology is being used effectively elsewhere. The committee works closely with school and parish technology personnel. This is a great committee if you have experience with information technology and computer programming or you just can’t live without the latest tech gadget.

If you would like to volunteer for an open position or submit a nomination, please email Aaron Giust, School Board Secretary, at schoolboard-secretary@stalbert.org your first and last name (or nominee's name) along with a contact number and email address by Friday, March 5, 2021.

All volunteers and nominees are required to meet with current School Board members for a Discernment Meeting the afternoon of March 7, 2021, to learn more about the Board and the responsibilities of Voting Members. The session will be held online and will last about 30 minutes. Only interested parties will receive the meeting invite. If you have a conflict but are still interested, then please email Aaron Giust, School Board Secretary, at schoolboard-secretary@stalbert.org. Thank you!

THANK YOU ST. ALBERT!

On behalf of the Sports Ministry we’d like to thank you for your support during our first fish fry. While we weren’t sure what to expect for this first fish fry given the weather and our new drive thru only format you guys supported us in a big way. We were completely surprised that 95% of our sales came through online pre-orders! Based on last week we’ll have plenty more fish and we’ve made several adjustments to our process for filling orders to get orders out faster.

Thanks for your patience with us last week and we’ll see you this Friday from 5-7:30pm!
