Better Together: Home/School Communication

As educators, we know that communication between school and home is hugely important to a child's success in school. We are trying to keep all parents informed through a variety of communications, such as, Monday Memo, weekly newsletters, emails, Facebook, the online calendar, Tuesday folders, and phone calls.

Communication between parents and teachers is best when the communication becomes collaboration. When parents and teachers work together, it better equips our children to reach their academic potential.

Of course, conferences with teachers can be held at any time. You don't have to wait for a "conference day" to discuss any concerns. If your child comes home and is upset about something that happened that day at school, please let us know at once. Addressing the situation immediately is the best way to get it resolved right away.

When parents and teachers are on the same team, our children are the winners!

Fall Map Testing

At the beginning of last school year the Archdiocese of Louisville implemented a new assessment system; NWEA MAP. Grade levels take the following tests in the fall testing window:

  • 3rd – 7th Grade: MAP Growth Reading, Math, and Language

  • Grade 8: MAP Growth Math

  • Grades K – 2: MAP Reading Fluency.

St. Albert will begin administering the MAP Growth assessment this week in some of the grade levels. The Archdiocese asked schools to start with MATH Growth, so we will complete those tests first and then schedule for Growth Reading, Language, and Reading Fluency.

Because of the disruption of instruction this past March, we will not be releasing MAP test results this fall. Teachers will use the data to inform their instruction to target the specific needs of each student to close whatever gaps exist as a result of the ongoing pandemic.

We hope that, throughout this testing process, you continue to partner with us in your children’s education by encouraging them to do their best on the MAP assessment.

RLO students have began testing, contact Ms. Finley for more information.

Thank you so much for your continued support of St. Albert School and Parish Community

Sycamore & Carpool

Mr. Henderson sent out a message on Friday evening with details about helpful tips for Sycamore and information about Carpool for this school year.

Optional Remote Learning Online (RLO)

Families that requested the optional RLO for their family can find the grade level plans below. This is the plan we will start the year with and we will be making adjustments as needed to fit the needs of our families.

RLO is on a month to month basis so that if you are wanting to make a change to in-person instruction from RLO or RLO to in-person instruction you will need to do that by the 25th of each month.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these continually changing times.

Please direct all RLO questions to Lindsay Finley at lfinley@stalbert.org or leave a message or text at (502) 536-8761. Ms. Finley will be the liaison between students, parents, and teachers.

2020 Baby Bottle Boomerang

Little Way and the St. Albert Respect Life Committee invite you to participate in our annual Baby Bottle Boomerang, from September 26th through October 11th.

For 36 years, Little Way has served those facing unplanned pregnancies, and a pandemic could not cause them to shut their doors to those in need.

Now more than ever, they need your support.

Starting next weekend you are invited to take home a baby bottle from the church gathering space, fill it with checks, currency, and/or coins and return the bottle to church by October 11th.

Together, we are making a difference. As an alternative to participating in the Bottle Boomerang, feel free to make a donation at littleway.org/support-us/

or mail a check to Little Way 515 W Oak St. Louisville, KY 40203; Phone number 502-589-0370. Thank you for your support.

Helping Hands - Seeking Volunteers

What is Helping Hands?

We are a volunteer group that provides meals and services to families in need in our parish. It is 100% anonymous. We do this mainly for the families benefit, as sometimes asking for a helping hand is hard, and this way it keeps it easy for both parties. We generally work with a friend of the family on what their needs are. We can provide meals to yard work and small errands or sending supplies or a cheerful note to someone who may be ill or quarantined that just needs a pick me up. When tragedy hits a family, our St. Albert community always wants to pitch in and help and this truly is the best way we can support them in combination with prayers. If you want to join our committee message Allison Gibson directly to gibsonfam2005@gmail.com and we will add you.

Yearbook Committee

The Yearbook committee would like to encourage parents, students, teachers, and staff to have their cameras ready! We will be incorporating a lot of candid photos into the yearbook this year. Special links to submit photos and more info coming soon!

Fall Sport Reimbursement Update

We are currently working with the CSAA to issue refunds to all athletes that signed up to play this fall. The CSAA is having to do mass refunds to all parishes with a new system and it is going a little slower than anticipated. We ask for your patience and please know the issue is not forgotten and we will issue the refunds as soon as we can.
