The possession, use, sale or distribution of alcoholic beverages or regulated drugs is a violation of Vermont Law. The principal or their designee will inform law enforcement of all offenses. Possession, distribution or ingestion of any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) without the school nurse’s supervision will also be considered in violation of district policy and may be consequenced similarly.
Vaping and smoke detectors are installed in all RMS student bathrooms. These detectors have sensors within them that can detect when a student is vaping or smoking and what substances are being used (i.e. nicotine, marijuana). If vaping is detected, an alert will be sent to the office, and an administrator will investigate the reason for the notification. School security cameras in the hallways (no cameras are in bathrooms) will assist in identifying those who were in the bathrooms at the time of the alert. The vape detection policy and protocol in its entirety can be found here.
