The Industrial Mechanics course builds essential skills in safety, measurement, mechanical systems, and blueprint reading. Level 20 introduces and expands into specialized mechanical applications, and Level 30 focuses on real-world industrial skills. Upon completion, students will be equipped with the technical knowledge and practical experience necessary to enter the Millwright trade confidently.Â
Industrial Mechanics 20 builds on foundational skills with a focus on advanced safety protocols, precision measurement, rigging, metallurgy, and bearings. Students gain hands-on experience with abrasives, grinders, belt and chain drive systems, electric arc welding, and metal lathes. The course also enhances trade math skills, workplace communication, and blueprint reading while continuing engagement in the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Program.
Industrial Mechanics 30 focuses on advanced trade skills, including safety certifications, rigging, drilling, gear drives, and machinery installation. Students develop expertise in bearings, seals, lubrication, and milling operations while refining precision measurement and layout techniques. The course expands trade math knowledge with trigonometry and geometric formulas, enhances blueprint reading with isometric sketches and welding symbols, and deepens electrical understanding. Students also complete their participation in the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Program.
