Choir at CCHS is a welcoming, ensemble-based course where students earn credit through active participation in the school choir. Students develop skills in vocal technique, music reading, listening, and group performance while singing a wide range of music in a supportive and inclusive environment.
No prior choir or singing experience is required — students of all ability levels are encouraged to join.
Choir is offered as a noon-hour course only and takes place outside of the regular school timetable. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch, with alternating Fridays dedicated to sectionals.
No previous choir or singing experience is needed to participate or succeed in this course.
Grade 9 students are welcome to join choir as an extracurricular activity. Course credit begins in Grade 10. Whether you are brand new to singing or have experience in choir, all students are supported and challenged at their level.
Assessment is primarily based on consistent participation, engagement, and contribution during rehearsals, not prior ability. Regular attendance is essential, as all students perform in major concerts and scheduled events throughout the year.

Come be part of a warm, welcoming musical community — no experience needed, just a willingness to sing — and earn a high school credit while you do it.
Choral 10 introduces healthy vocal technique and ensemble singing skills in a supportive setting. Students work on pitch, tone, breathing, and blending while learning to read and interpret music. No prior choir or singing experience is required, making this an ideal entry point for new singers as well as those with experience.
In Choral 20, students continue to develop vocal control, accuracy, and expression while singing more challenging repertoire. Students build confidence, independence, and stronger ensemble skills. Students at varying experience levels are welcome, and learning is focused on growth rather than background.
Choral 30 is designed for students ready to take their singing further, whether they have been in choir for several years or joined more recently. Students refine vocal technique, expressive performance, and ensemble leadership skills while preparing for continued involvement in music beyond high school. Prior choir experience is helpful but not required.
